Himalaya's Protective Sunscreen Lotion is a double action formulation that protects you from harmful UV rays and nourishes your skin. A blend of naturally derived ingredients such as Spiked Ginger Lily, Aloe Vera, Greater Galangal and Crab Apple, help protect the skin from damaging effects of the sun, which include tanning, premature ageing and skin cancer.
Himalaya has received a US patent for CINNABLOC, an active sunscreen agent used in its Protective Sunscreen Lotion. CINNABLOC is extracted from the herbs Spiked Ginger Lily and Greater Galangal, which have natural UV rays shielding properties. The US patent has been granted for discovering a natural sunscreen composition and using it in a herbal cosmeceutical product.

A study was carried out in The Himalaya Drug Company, Bangalore , India to test the efficacy and safety of Protective Sunscreen Lotion.
The study was conducted on two consecutive days by exposing volunteers' skin to sunlight for 1 hour between 11.45 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. On both days, redness, tanning and sunburn were controlled. No adverse effects (inflammatory and allergic reactions) were reported or observed during the study.

Hedychium spicatum (Spiked Ginger Lily, Gandhapalashi) has a wide range of therapeutic benefits. The powdered rhizomes of the plant are used as an antiseptic agent and for various aches and pain. Due to its warming properties, it is also a good skin moisturizer. |

Aloe vera (Barbados Aloe, Kumari), known for its many healing properties, can be used topically or internally in its juice form. The leaf of this plant has a number of therapeutic properties. It is rich in enzymes, polysaccharides and nutrients which exhibit antibacterial and antifungal action. A natural UV inhibitor, its hydrating, softening and intense moisturizing properties nourish the skin.
