When the city is increasingly becoming aware of its environment, can
the children be left behind? Over the next one year, Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) and
Himalaya Herbal Healthcare plans to rope in children in their awareness programme "Environment
health linkages".
About 10 schools and five colleges will be part of the programme,
which will divided into three modules - Researching Nature, Solution for Pollution, and Nature
Nurture. Cultivating a herbal garden and water quality testing center will be part of the
year-long activity besides a host of competitions.
Professor and head, Centre for Ecological Sciences, Madhav Gadgil,
says, "As much as human beings are responsible for environmental degradation, it is we who can
make up our minds to keep the environment healthy. We must work towards this".
Former Cricketer Syed Kirmani formally launched the programme.
Co-founder of Janaagraha Swati Ramanathan and CEO of Himalaya Herbal Healthcare, Ravi Prasad,
endorsed his support for the cause.
