Herbal pharma major Himalaya Drug Company
has transferred its technology to produce medicines from indigenous
herbs to manufacturers in Egypt and Syria as part of efforts to
strengthen its presence in the international market, a top company
official said.
The company, whose products are available
in over 55 countries, will develop a marketing strategy through
a joint venture with an international partner to identify and exploit
growth opportunities in these two nations, Mr. Ravi Prasad, CEO of
the company said.
"While production has commenced
in Syria, test runs are on in Egypt. We are also looking for two
new countries which will feed this technology to several others",
he said.
The Rs 270 crore company will focus
on the expansion of the retail segment by strengthening its retailing
interface through shop-in- shop's at leading chains and increasing
the number of retail outlets.
