Himalaya transfers tech abroad

Herbal pharma major Himalaya Drug Company has transferred its technology to produce medicines from indigenous herbs to manufacturers in Egypt and Syria as part of efforts to strengthen its presence in the international market, a top company official said.

The company, whose products are available in over 55 countries, will develop a marketing strategy through a joint venture with an international partner to identify and exploit growth opportunities in these two nations, Mr. Ravi Prasad, CEO of the company said.

"While production has commenced in Syria, test runs are on in Egypt. We are also looking for two new countries which will feed this technology to several others", he said.

The Rs 270 crore company will focus on the expansion of the retail segment by strengthening its retailing interface through shop-in- shop's at leading chains and increasing the number of retail outlets.
