Herbal healthcare major Himalaya Drug Company has forayed into
the Rs. 461 crore osteoporosis and hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
segment with the launch of 'Reosto' and 'Menosan' tablets.
"Our focus on women's healthcare led to these two products,
which have no side effects that are generally associated with hormone
replacement therapy (HRT), calcium supplementation and vitamin-D
analog", Philipe Haydon, senior manager, pharma marketing of
the company said.
The dosage for Reosto meant to prevent osteoporosis, is two tablets
twice a day. These provide phytoestrogens, vitamin-D like substances
and calcium in natural form. It decreases bone loss and brings about
an improvement in bone mineral density. Besides, "calcium assimilation
is very fast in this case" he added.
