The Himalaya Drug Company (HDC) on Thursday launched in Bangalore
two new drugs, Menosan (for treating menopausal symptoms) and Reosto
(for countering osteoporosis), under its medicinal
range of products. These two drugs are expected to bring in Rs 6-7
crore to HDC covers before this financial year comes to a close.
Phillpe J. Haydon, general manager (Pharma Marketing), HDC, said
clinical trials have shown that Menosan is considered to be an ideal
alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) without the associated
risks.
Menosan, company officials said, would improve hormone utilisation
and overall hormone balance. It would provide relief from excessive
sweating, insomnia and headache, the symptoms associated with menopause.
Reosto, being a natural source of calcium, is expected to eliminate
the risk of abnormally high calcium and vitamin D levels in blood.
