The articulate English speaking dadima of the Ayurvedic Concepts
television commercial had made the brand virtually a household name
in India. Last December the company brought Ayurvedic Concepts under
the umbrella branding of Himalaya and has gained stronger visibility
in the market. "This decision was in keeping with our global
strategy to have Himalaya under one roof. There has been a paradigm
shift from individual stand-alone brands to umbrella branding. "We
have received an overwhelming positive response and our customers
are very happy and comfortable with the name change", says
Ravi Prasad, President and CEO.
Himalaya has recently launched 12 new products through its newly
set up Himalaya Pure Herbs Division. "Our Single Herb products
are 28 in number which are available at our stores. Without any
advertising 15 of these products have started selling very well.
Out of these, the 12 fastest moving products are available with
chemists across the country. And interestingly, chemists operating
close to these stores have reported an increase in sales of their
products," he states.
