Himalaya Herbal Healthcare today launched a new division Himalaya
Pure Herbs with 12 products in its fold, addressing specific health
problems and maintaining wellness of the body.
Philipe J. Haydon, General Manager (Pharma marketing), told presspersons
that the division had already started marketing the products worldwide
and was now going aggressively into the domestic market. The company
is targeting a sales of about Rs. 15 crores in the first year and
hopes to touch Rs. 100 crores in five years.
Quoting ORG market survey, he said the domestic market for herbal
products was Rs. 4,200 crores and that it was largely in the unorganised
sector. There were small players, but Himalaya, he claimed, was
the first one to go international.
Mr. Haydon said the company had dedicated farms in Bangalore and
certain places in the north where it grew herbs. Subsequently, the
company had stringent scientific testing and modern extraction process,
ensuring that the benefit of the herb was consistent and without
any batch-to-batch variation.
The 12 products launched today are Amalaki (an anti-oxidant), Arjuna
(for blood circulation), Ashvagandha (anti-stress), Brahmi (alterness),
Karela (regulates metabolism), Lasuna (cholesterol protection),
