Himalaya recently launched its range of pharmaceutical-grade herbal therapeutics in Singapore. The first phase of the product launch includes products for disorders in Immunology& Pulmology, Rheumatology & Bone, Dermatology, and Gynecology. Some of the top Himalaya brands like Rumalaya, Menosan, Septilin, Purim, Reosto, Himcopaz and Clarina will now be accessible to doctors.
Confident of the science behind each of these products, Himalaya is all set to promote them through the doctor prescription route. Since the products address serious health concerns they need to be administered under the care of qualified physicians. Moreover, given the research data and clinical studies backing each of these products, ethical marketing becomes the logical route.
Himalaya will approach the vast medical fraternity in Singapore with this new range of scientifically-backed and clinically researched herbal healthcare products, making it the first Indian company to promote herbal therapeutics through the mainstream ethical channel in the market.
The fact that Himalaya’s herbal therapeutics are subjected to international drug testing protocols, similar to allopathic medicines, makes it possible to validate their safety and efficacy. To develop ‘pharmaceutical grade’ herbal products, Himalaya conducts several clinical trials, including double-blind placebo controlled studies, toxicity studies, quality and stability tests. Presently Himalaya is conducting clinical trials at various leading hospitals around the globe, including the US, Russia and India. Speaking at the launch, Dr. S.K.Mitra, Head-Research & Development and Executive Director- Himalaya Global Holdings Ltd, stated, “Advances in modern science and sophisticated instrumentation have made it possible to carefully select authentic herbs and evaluate pharmacological properties, identify active markers and then standardize its efficacy by stringent quality control- similar to procedures followed in the analysis of synthetic molecules. Plants, unlike all living organisms, are a composite of several unusual chemical entities, each with its own pharmacological actions. If they are not carefully standardized, it could result in toxicity. It is therefore imperative to scientifically research plants and evaluate them for safety and toxicity - as one would do for any other chemical compound.”
There is tremendous potential in nature for providing solutions to many health concerns. When nature is merged with modern science it presents multiple prospects that can help improve the quality of life enjoyed by people. Himalaya’s therapeutic range brings together nature and modern science.
